About Jahi
"First and foremost it is my dream to protect and preserve this land for future generations. It is also important that I live a self-sufficient lifestyle. I would like to turn the farm into a viable business once more and intend to use a portion of the farm to teach at-risk youth and returning citizens the importance of agriculture and food systems."
For the past 5 years, Jahi has been farming, fighting for and stewarding his family's ancestral land held in his family since 1872 in Vidalia, GA. Overcoming insurmountable obstacles to obtain his own freedom, hold on to his family's land and legacy, he continues the fight for the plight of his family and thus small Black farmers everywhere.
His approach to growing food, building community through food and stewarding the land are of his greatest expressions of art. He envisions building sustainable, intentional communities with SAAFON (Southeastern African American Farming Organic Network) and creating opportunities for more of our families who have been formerly incarcerated to reconnect to the land and create pathways for sustainability.
